We Ought Give Thanks

We Ought Give Thanks

From lost beggars to pained workers, from dark sinners to God’s saints, we all possess some things held dear for which we ought give thanks

And though some say that virtue’s lost in a world drowned by its greed we set apart one day each year so use that day I plead

Think on how life has been so kind despite its controversies for though dark times have surely come consider too its mercies

Look to your fellow man and see he bears a heart like yours for we all feel life’s love and loss, its clouds and their downpours

Consider this and praise the skies for you’ve got breath to breathe and though your days are numbered still there’s time before you leave

So glance around and see them all the heads that hang still low lift them up, they’ll do the same and love them til you go
