The Outcast and the Survivor Series
Part II Synposis
With part I now concluded, the story of an exiled princess takes a sharp turn in an unexpected direction. With heartbreaking loss throwing her into despair, Kaela feels the pressure of dark forces ripping her away from the reality she knows. Who she is and what she is will be challenged.
Before I begin work on Part II, I am rewriting Part I as a single book. THe original chapters will quadruple from12 to more than 50. Part II will be much shorter than part I, about 100 pages, and will focus on a brief period of challenge Kaela must overcome with the help and forgiveness of those she loves.
Part I - Jan. 2018; Part II - TBD 2018.
The Broken Journey
Gabriel has crossed a wasteland to escape the tyranny of a government that has taken everything away from him. But when he reaches the other side, he finds the ghosts of his past beckoning him home.
The outline is completed; now is the time to draft, my favorite part. This story is years in the making, and the narrative is finally starting to take form!
The Boy Who Chased the Sun
An ancient legend, one forgotten by time, becomes the mission of a young traveller as he races around the world seeking the truth of a mythical child who chased the sun across the sky.
This story went through a couple drafted outlines before I settled on how I wanted it to turn out. Now, with a couple chapters completed, things are starting to come together.
This story still has a long way to come. I've outlined the whole series from start to end, but I feel changes coming before I start drafting the first one.
There is a place where peace persists, science produces miracles, and belief is a forbidden relic of the past. But when a child starts seeing visions of a girl from another world, he will stop at nothing to seek her out in a quest he must keep secret.
The Dead Seas: Return Below
This short story comes from the world of Crystal Palace, a sequal to another short story, The Dead Seas. Kindra, who was saved from her island home by two thieves, returns when people on the mainland start mysteriously disappearing. She can feel her mother's presence linger, though she, too, is missing. Kindra hopes that if she can find the courage, she will be able to follow to wherever her mother has been taken.
This is more of a fun side project, though I will try to get it done when I can. This story is mystical, scary, and adventurous, and I hope I can get it right.
Stories on the Horizon
I struggle focusing on one thing at a time, which drives Kristen crazy. But it's taken me years to realize it's not a bad thing, so long as I have the self control to not look at my phone during dinner, Kristen's scathing gaze like Sauron's as I try to justify that I was still paying attention...until she quizzes me. But I digress.
What this means is I'm working on several stories at a time. It helps me to bounce between my worlds, like a painter who travels to gain inspiration. Right now, my main focuses are on three series: The Broken Journey, Distant Souls, and The Outcast an the Survivor. Dates are a little bit up in the air, but hopefully by the end of spring I'll have some updates for you.
